Hi, I’m Brianna!
I’d like to think of this as a blog/portfolio hybrid of my journey as a freelance makeup artist. I certainly don’t expect my amateur blogging skills to gather readership but if it happens, I’ll think of it as icing on the cake! My purpose for creating this site was to cast a wide net around everything I believe encompasses my experience as a makeup artist. This has been a passionate and exciting part of my life for several years and I look forward to taking this journey online to share and also to gain new opportunities as an artist.
A little bit about me…
I currently live and work in Michigan where outside of my full time job as an administrative assistant, I enjoy working as a makeup artist for weddings, prom, engagement sessions, and other special events. I have been connected to the beauty industry since 2006 in various roles in salon and retail environments. Most recently, I worked as a makeup artist for Sephora for over five years. This allowed me to learn from an amazing group of artists, trainers, and of course clients. This past spring I decided to devote more time to freelancing and promote myself as an artist on my own. I was happily surprised to see that by a couple business cards and some facebook posts, I booked more jobs than I expected within a short time. I’m excited to see how keeping an online collaborative of my freelancing experience and blogging about my little jaunts can help me grow as an artist.
“Pics or it didn’t happen!”
One of my biggest obstacles is documenting my work, which is why I have mostly grainy iphone photos of the work that I’ve done in the past. I hope to post clean and professional looking photos in the future as I continue on through the busy wedding season. I understand the importance for future clients to be able to see what they are getting into before hiring me for something so personal, and I plan on offering this as soon as possible. Being hired for jobs by word of mouth alone was great for a while, but now I am seeing how apprehensive (understandably so) future brides may be about hiring a makeup artist with only a few instagram photos! I get it, and I’m working on it. Pinky swear.
In the meantime, for all business inquiries, please feel free to email me at email@example.com and if you may be so inclined to follow me on instagram, you can find me @briannanicole_mua!
Thanks for your support, and I hope to have lots of beauty content up here soon!
